Mivi Commando X9 Review
Mivi's Commando X9, a gaming earbud with vibrant RGB lighting, gains traction in Nepal. Despite a plastic build, the case's customizable lighting adds flair. The earbuds promise durability and comfort, though slightly bulky. Sound quality suffices for gaming and music, boasting a low latency of 35 milliseconds. Battery life falls short of claims, lasting around 4.5 hours. With an IPX4 rating and Environmental Noise Cancellation, they suit outdoor use. While not ideal for swimming, Commando X9 caters well to gamers, yet Mivi offers diverse alternatives for varied preferences.

Mivi, an Indian company, is becoming more popular in Nepal thanks to its good reviews on online shopping platforms. Today, we’ll be talking about the Mivi Commando X9, which is a gaming earbud that comes with colorful lights. We’ll discuss how well it works, how good it sounds, how well it’s built, and how it looks. Before starting the review, the buds are priced at NPR 4,499 in Nepal. Let’s get started.
Mivi Commando X9 Review
Box Contents
The packaging and box of the Mivi Commando X9 resemble those of other Mivi earbud accessories. The Mivi branding, taglines, and key features are displayed on the top and sides of the box. Inside, you’ll find the bud case, some paperwork, a charging cable, and rubber earbud tips.
Look and Feel
When you look at the earbuds’ case, it appears big, but when you open it, you’ll find colorful RGB lighting inside, giving off a cool gaming vibe. The case is made of plastic, so it doesn’t feel super fancy, but the RGB lighting adds a touch of luxury. The earbuds themselves are sturdy and comfy, suitable for most people. However, they’re a bit heavy due to the bulky design and RGB lights. Inside the case, there’s a small button for changing the lighting patterns, offering seven options. Although these are marketed as gaming earbuds, the RGB lighting is purely for looks and doesn’t offer any extra features.
Sound
The gaming earbuds are designed mainly for gaming, although they also offer decent sound quality for music. However, they’re not the best for music enthusiasts, as other brands or Mivi also offer higher sound quality buds. While the low, mid, and high frequencies are satisfactory, the sound can sometimes distort at high volumes. These earbuds excel in gaming, with a specific mode that reduces latency to 35 milliseconds, making gameplay smooth and responsive. Despite not being top-tier for music, they provide excellent performance for gaming, ensuring an immersive experience without any noticeable delay.
Battery
According to the company, they claim the device provides 8 hours of playtime on one charge, but during our testing, it only lasted for 4 hours and 30 minutes. However, actual playtime may vary depending on usage. In my case, I was using it for gaming. Similarly, the case is said to provide 72 hours of battery backup, ensuring 6 to 7 hours of playtime on a single charge.
ENC, IPX4 & Calling
The earbuds have an IPX4 rating, making them resistant to sweat and splashes. They’re suitable for activities like trekking and hiking, but avoid using them while swimming or in heavy rain. They feature Environmental Noise Cancellation (ENC), providing some level of noise reduction. As for the microphone, it offers decent performance. During testing, the call quality on the receiving end was clear. You can listen and judge for yourself whether it’s excellent, good, or bad.
Conclusion
In summary, the Mivi Commando X9 offers a gaming-inspired design complete with RGB lighting. It stands out as an excellent choice for gaming TWS buds due to its impressively low latency of 35 milliseconds. However, if your priority is music listening or general use, the earbuds offer satisfactory performance but may not excel in these aspects. As mentioned earlier, Mivi offers a range of alternatives such as the K7, F40, and F70, each with its own unique features and functionalities. Additionally, there are numerous options available from other brands to explore.
