Performance
Microsoft’s first Windows device to support 5G is the Surface Pro 9 5G, which is powered by the Microsoft SQ3 processor based on the Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3. The Pro 9 5G is available with up to 16GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 512GB of storage.
The Surface Pro 9 offers two Intel CPU options – the Core i5-1245U and i7-1265U. Models with 256GB or more storage come with Intel Evo certification. The i7 model can be configured with up to 32GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 1TB of storage, while the i5 version has a maximum of 16GB LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB SSD.
The Surface Pro 9 5G also features the Microsoft SQ3 Adreno 8CX Gen 3 graphics processor, while the non-5G variant with Intel CPU has an Iris GPU. The chip’s AI engine enables features such as noise reduction, auto-framing, and super-resolution, which are supported by the Microsoft SQ3 variants of the Surface Pro 9 series.

Both Pro 9 and Pro 9 5G has the same dimensions of 287 x 209 x 9.3 millimeters but differ in weight, with the 5G model weighing 883 grams and the standard model weighing 879 grams. The Surface Pro 9 comes in Sapphire, Forest, and Graphite color options, while the Surface Pro 9 5G is only available in Platinum.
For Display, both models have a 13-inch PixelSense Flow display with a 120Hz refresh rate, 2880 x 1920 resolution, 3:2 aspect ratio, 1200:1 contrast, and a maximum brightness of 450 nits.
Which is also compatible with the Surface Slim Pen 2, and both displays are protected by Gorilla Glass 5. However, only the Surface Pro 9 supports auto-color management and Dolby Vision IQ.
Battery & Other Features
They got the same battery capacity of 47.7Wh. But Surface Pro 9 has a battery life of up to 15.5 hours with regular use, while the 5G version offers an additional 3.5 hours of usage time.
Both models have a 1080p front-facing camera and a 10MP rear camera that can record 4K video. They are also equipped with two far-field studio microphones and two 2W stereo speakers for audio. The Surface Pro 9 5G supports GPS and SIM, in addition to Wi-Fi 6E.
